Who: Mark Russi, M.D., Yale University and Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut

Dr. Mark Russi is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Public Health at Yale University and the Director of Occupational Health at Yale-New Haven Hospital.  He chairs the Medical Center Occupational Health Section of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), and represents ACOEM on CDC's Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC).

What: Immunization of Healthcare Workers:  Guidelines and Practice: Dr. Russi will speak on vaccination recommendations for healthcare workers and strategies for increasing vaccination rates.

WHO: William G. Buchta, M.D.

Dr. William Buchta was originally trained in family practice however, for the past 22 years his primary practice has been occupational health.  Dr. Buchta is board certified in occupational medicine and public health.  Since 1992 he has focused on medical center occupational health and has worked at the Mayo Clinic since 2001.  Dr. Buchta became an ICOH and HCW Health Committee member in 2006, attending triennial meetings in Milan and Capetown.  In 2007 Dr. Buchta attended the Vancouver meeting sponsored by the committee for which he was on the program and scientific committee.

Virtual Seminars Coming Soon!

One of the goals of ICOH’s scientific committee is to share ideas and knowledge among all members.  To fulfill this objective, the ICOH Scientific Committee on Occupational Health for Healthcare workers will be offering a series of virtual seminar sessions on occupational health for healthcare workers via Elluminate, an online Web conferencing system. The seminars will be FREE and will feature distinguished experts in the field. The first seminar will be launched in March 2010, followed by routine sessions every two months.
